皇冠体育app brokerages of the Great Lakes Region recently benefited the Make-a-Wish foundation, raising $10,000 at the annual Booling for Wishes event. The Make-a-Wish foundation works to grant wishes to children who have been diagnosed with a terminal or life-threatening illness. Founded in 1980, The Make-a-Wish organization, 501(c) nonprofit, has granted nearly 480,000 wishes worldwide. Headquartered in Phoenix, the foundation is active in over 40 countries and continues to grow globally through generous donations and volunteerism.

A representative from Make-a-Wish, along with a recipient and her family were in attendance. The young recipient was able to share her story and tell how Make-a-Wish made a difference during her battle with cancer.

To help organize the event, an Executive Council gathered items for the raffle and silent auction, registered attendees and reached out to the local community and sponsors to gather donations.

皇冠体育app Nevada鈥檚 Choice was welcomed in June 2019 by the national nonprofit, Feeding Pets of the Homeless as a Donation Site. Donations of pet food and supplies can be taken to 800 E. College Parkway, Carson City, NV and will then be delivered to a local food bank, homeless shelter or homeless encampment. Feeding Pets of the Homeless is the only national network focused completely on feeding and providing emergency veterinary care to pets of the homeless.

Over the course of a year, millions of people become homeless with numbers rising. Approximately 80 percent of people who experience homelessness are homeless for a short period of time and usually need help finding housing or a rent subsidy. Unfortunately, for those with pets it becomes more difficult, forcing them to choose between their pet and a roof over their head. Surprisingly, most choose to stay on the streets with their pets for longer periods of time. Their pets are their comfort, provide an emotional bond of loyalty, provide protection and are nonjudgmental. It is estimated that one in four homeless and disadvantaged people have a pet. Pets of the homeless do not choose their guardians. A difference can be made to aid these pets.

More than 20,416 pets have been medically treated through the assistance of Feeding Pets of the Homeless, and over 644 tons of pet food collected and distributed. There are more than 409 Donation Sites nationwide. Pets of the Homeless has provided over $1.23 million in emergency veterinary care to pets of the homeless.

皇冠体育app Nevada鈥檚 Choice accepts pet food donations year round. For more information, call: 775-220-5696, or call Pets of the Homeless at 775-841-7463 or visit

皇冠体育app Midwest believes in giving back to the community in which they live and work. Recently, Broker Joan Wayman assisted in organizing the Rotary Club of Darien, Illinois’ Taste of Route 66 event. This annual event features local restaurants who create delicious samples for ticket holders. People are also able to bid online to purchase donated items. All proceeds benefit a local Food for Kids Program put in place to help food-insecure children bring meals home on Fridays during the school year, as many families may be dependent on school sponsored lunches. Every six weeks, Wayman coordinates the Rotary Club members and local volunteers to buy and pack over 1,100 food bags for school social workers to privately place into the children鈥檚 backpacks. This years, the Taste of Route 66 event raised over $31,000 to help buy and pack nutritional meals for 200+ elementary students.

Jana Pinc, managing Broker/Owner of 皇冠体育app Midwest came to support Wayman and the cause, saying she is proud to work with not only the top real estate professionals in the industry but with those who support the community they work in.

鈥淚 am so happy to be able to contribute to this very important cause,鈥 Pinc said. 鈥淚 feel humbled by Joan鈥檚 efforts, and would like to applaud her and the rest of our team who showed their support this evening. As always, we鈥檙e grateful to be able to take part in local fundraisers and honored to give back to all of those in the community that support us with their business.鈥

After several years of a successful and worldly mechanical engineering career, Wayman decided to start her second career in real estate while raising her children. Wayman originally bought her first rental at just the age of 25 so while receiving her Master鈥檚 degree in Business Administration, she decided she would dive deeper into real estate investing and take real estate focused courses. After confirming her love of the real estate industry and offering help to family and friends, Wayman received her real estate license in Illinois and has been building her career ever since.

is proud to announce Pat Wunderlich鈥檚 involvement in the 25th annual Ladies Theme Luncheon, which has now raised over $425,000 since its inception. The women鈥檚 group 鈥淒esigning Women for a Cause鈥, where Wunderlich is a member, began 25 years ago and is a fundraising group that has been participating in the annual spring luncheon since the beginning. The group and luncheon raise money to support the charity ACAP (Adaptive Community Approach Program). Over the years, the popularity of their efforts has led to the addition of a cocktail party and most recently, a public viewing. The women鈥檚 group started as a modest home and school group but is now instrumental in the support of ACAP and other local non-profits.

The Ladies Theme Luncheon includes over 10 group participants that are tasked with creating a fun and unique dining table based on a decided yearly theme. The table 鈥渉osts鈥 provide everything from the place settings to the over-the-top centerpieces, one of which has included a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Supporters are able to pledge money to the participants to help them decorate, and are able to buy tickets to a public walkthrough or to the evening cocktail party.

ACAP is a nonprofit organization, serving adults with disabilities in the Waukesha area. The organization works to encourage those with disabilities to fulfill their highest potential and become active community members through several educational and enrichment programs such as practicing the arts, recreational activities, community service and community advocacy.

After several years in advertising, Wunderlich received her real estate license and began working for a small family brokerage. From there, she worked under a high producing Realtor in order to pursue more opportunity and growth. After 13 years, Wunderlich found her real estate home at 皇冠体育app Integrity, in Brookfield, WI. Now a successful Executive, she is continuing to build her career and focuses on giving back to her community.

For the past five years or so, Waunakee鈥檚 Wine Walks have drawn hundreds to the downtown area to visit the shops and experience a night out.

But many may not realize that the event, organized by a small group of energetic women, raises funds to help the community.

The Waunakee Professional Women鈥檚 group, or WPW, is a 501 漏 3 nonprofit and uses the proceeds for college scholarships and to help Waunakee residents in need.

One is a patient of a local dentist facing extensive dental work he cannot afford. WPW is donating funds to cover a portion of the cost, said Sheryl Schroeder, one of WPW鈥檚 board members.

With Schroeder, Rena Ripp, Kristy Crosby and Mary Horras also serve on WPW鈥檚 board of directors, and together with volunteers, they plan events throughout the community.

鈥淎nyone can join. There鈥檚 no charge, We focus on raising money for people with various needs,鈥 Ripp said.

This year, WPW will award three $1,000 scholarships to young women with entrepreneurial aspirations. These will be the eighth scholarships WPW has awarded.

Selection is based not on grade point averages, but entrepreneurial spirit and community involvement.

鈥淲e look at what鈥檚 their passion?鈥 Schroeder said. 鈥淲e just look at it as where鈥檚 their heart, where are they giving back?鈥

Giving the scholarship is rewarding, and the recipients march with WPW in the WaunaFest Parade.

Horras, who owns Simply Unique stores in Waunakee and Shullsburg, heads up the Waunakee Wine Walk. As the owner of the Main Street store, she鈥檚 easy to find in the community and has been successful in securing sponsors for the event, Ripp said.

The Wine Walk has also been a means to bring people to Waunakee鈥檚 downtown business district during the holiday season. Tickets to the Wine Walk sell out quickly, but with a horse-drawn wagon ride and food carts downtown, the event is an attraction with or without the wine tasting.

WPW members are busy professionals. Ripp is a Realtor with 皇冠体育app Cooper Spransy, Crosby owns Moonstruck Media Production, and Schroeder is with Coldwell Banker Success.

But all are Waunakee area residents who want to be involved and give back to their community.

They鈥檙e planning new events, as well, such as the May 11 Marcella Fun Run at Schumacher Farm Park, named for Marcella Schumacher Pendall, who donated her family鈥檚 farm to Dane County for the park. Sarah Whitley of Old National Bank and Kelly Haas from Orange Shoe Gym are both helping to head up the run.

鈥淲e try to engage local businesses in the community,鈥 Schroeder said.

Sponsored by Old National Bank, TDS and LSM Chiropractic, it will include a 5k trail run for kids at 1 p.m. followed by a 5k relay at 2 p.m. A portion of the proceeds from the race will be split between Schumacher Farm Park and WPW.

WPW has organized other community projects, such as sewing groups to provide blankets to Waunakee seniors, and has provided funds for the Waunakee Public Library鈥檚 capital campaign. WPW has also assisted community members in need, including seniors behind on their utility bills or who need an appliance replaced.

The group is open to women who live, work or own their business in the Waunakee school district.
